FURMAN IN LEAD AT SOCON

BOONE, North Carolina -- Furman's Lady Paladin golf team fired a first-round 303 on Sunday and holds a 16 stroke lead with two rounds to go in the Southern Conference Championship.

Sophomore Brandi Jackson (Belton, S.C.) is in first individually after carding a 74 to lead Furman at the Hounds Ear Resort in Boone, N.C. Lady Paladin teammate Sarah Johnston (St. Charles, Ill.) is in second after firing a 75, while Jennifer Perri (Eden Prairie, Minn.) holds the third spot at 76. Sophomore Leigh Turner (Alpharetta, Ga.) is in ninth after recording a 78, while freshman Tiarna Harman (Greenville, S.C.) is 21st following a round one 84.

The Lady Paladins hold a 16-stroke lead over second place UNC Greensboro, which fired a 319, while College of Charleston is in third at 320.
