HURRICANE FLOYD CANCELS KIAWAH INTERCOLLEGIATE

KIAWAH ISLAND, South Carolina -- With Hurricane Floyd bearing down on the east coast of the United States, officials at the College of Charleston have cancelled the last round of the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate, declaring as final the results after 36 holes.

Based on results from the first two rounds, North Florida's 562 total is good enough for top honors, while Furman walks away with a ninth-place tie at 589. In addition, Augusta State's Jamie Elson takes medalist honors, with a 136 total, while Furman's Brian Scurlock and Matt Davidson remain tied for 23rd with a 145 tally. Davidson, a freshman from West Windsor, N.J., had the low performance of the tournament for Furman, carding a three-under 69 in round two.

The Paladins are in action again next Sunday and Monday, Sept. 19-20, at the Cavalier Classic in Charlottesville, Va.
