FURMAN MEN SEVENTH AT PALMETTO INTERCOLLEGIATE


AIKEN, South Carolina -- Furman’s Paladin golf team fired 282-302 on Monday and is in seventh with a 584 total entering the third and final round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate.

Senior Buddy Davis (Orlando, Fla.) paced the Paladins on Friday with rounds of 67-71 at the 6,380-yard, par 71 Palmetto Golf Club, and is in third in the individual standings, three strokes off the lead pace of South Carolina’s Erik Johansen. Fellow senior Matt Davidson (West Windsor, N.J.) is tied for 10th at 142 after shooting 69-73 on Monday, while Rob Langley (Atlanta, Ga.) and Shane Birckbichler (Travelers Rest, S.C.) are tied for 54th with a 152 total. Noble Judy, a senior out of Nashville, Tenn., carded 78-85, and is in 73rd in the individual rankings.

The Palmetto Intercollegiate’s final round is slated for Tuesday. South Carolina leads the tournament at 559 entering round three, while Coastal Carolina is in second at 571.
