FURMAN GOLFERS FIRE SECOND ROUND 294


SUNRIVER, Oregon -- The Furman men’s golf team carded a second round 294 Friday at the NCAA West Region, and is tied for 16th entering the final round at the Sunriver Resort’s Crosswater Club. Furman stands at 593 after two rounds, one stroke out of 15th and 10 away from the critical 10th place.

Senior Buddy Davis paced the Paladins with a two-under 70 on Friday, while fellow senior Matt Davidson fired a second consecutive 72 and is tied for 21 at 144. Junior Rob Langley is tied for 74th after a second round 77, while Shane Birckbichler stands in 84th following a second round 75. T.J. Blandford was the non-counter for the second consecutive day, following a nine-over 81.

The third and final round of the NCAA West Regional is slated for Saturday. The top 10 teams and top two individuals earn berths in the NCAA Championships, June 1-4 at The Homestead Resort in Hot Springs, Va.
