FURMAN GOLFERS SIXTH AT JIM HACKLER INVITATIONAL


MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina -- The Furman golf team is tied for sixth with Central Florida, Arkansas, and Louisville, following a first round 302 at the Jim Hackler Invitational on Monday. Round two of the Invitational, played at the 6,950 yard, par 72 TPC of Myrtle Beach, was suspended due to darkness and will be completed Tuesday morning prior to the third and final round.

Senior Matt Davidson (West Windsor, N.J.) fired a two-over 74 and is tied with teammate Rob Langley (Atlanta, Ga.) for 13th in the individual standings. In addition, sophomore T.J. Blandford (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) recorded a 76 and is tied for 32nd, while Buddy Davis (Orlando, Fla.) is 38th after a round one 78. Senior Noble Judy (Nashville, Tenn.) rounded out the Paladin effort with an 83 on Monday.

Pepperdine is the current team leader after a round one 292, while Wake Forest is second at 297 and Virginia and East Tennessee State are tied for third at 299. The Jim Hackler Invitational is hosted by Coastal Carolina.
