DAVIDSON FINISHES EIGHTH TO LEAD PALADIN GOLF TEAM TO SIXTH PLACE SHOWING AT ADAMS CUP

NEWPORT, Rhode Island -- Senior Matt Davidson (West Windsor, N.J.) fired 73-73-75 to finish eighth in the Adams Cup of Newport and lead the Paladin golf team to a sixth place showing in the 12-team field.

The Furman golf team followed up Monday’s rounds of 290-302 with a 306 on Tuesday to shoot 898, at the 7,160-yard Newport National Golf Club.

After Davidson, senior Noble Judy (Nashville, Tenn.) finsihed 19th with a 223 total, while Shane Birckbichler (Greenville, S.C.) and Ben Goforth (Shelby, N.C.) tied for 37th at 229. Senior Buddy Davis (Orlando, Fla.) rounded out the Paladin scoring with a 50th-place 233.

The Paladins are back in action Oct. 6-7 at the 49er Collegiate Classic in Charlotte, N.C.
