FURMAN MEN SIXTH AT WOFFORD INVITATIONAL

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina -- Furman’s Paladin golf team fired a 12-over 300 Friday in the first round of the Wofford Invitational, and is tied for sixth with the host Terriers, 12-strokes off the lead score of 288, set by Central Florida and East Carolina.

Buddy Davis led the Furman effort in round one, firing a one-under 71 to place fourth in the individual standings, while Ryan Potter is 15th after carding a two-over 74. Shane Birckbichler added a 76 to the Paladin effort and is in 28th, while Noble Judy is 49th after carding a 79. T.J. Blandford rounded out the Furman effort with a non-counting 80, and is in 52nd place in the individual field.

The second and final round of the Wofford Invitational is slated for Saturday at the Carolina Country Club. Inclement weather forced the cancellation of one round, shrinking the tournament to a 36-hole competition.
