PALADINS IN FIFTH IN RAIN-SHORTENED CLEVELAND COLLEGIATE


AIKEN, South Carolina -- Furman's Paladin golf team carded a first round 293 and is in fifth place, five strokes off the lead after one round of the Cleveland Golf Collegiate at the 6,380-yard, par 71 Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C. Round two, originally slated for Monday afternoon, was canceled due to inclement weather, but the final round will be played on Tuesday, weather permitting.

Junior Buddy Davis (Orlando, Fla.) led the Paladin assault on Monday, firing an even par 71 to stand fifth individually, while junior Noble Judy (Nashville, Tenn.) carded a two-over 73 to rank 18th. Hagan Jordan (Williamston, S.C.) added a 74 to the Furman effort, while sophomore Rob Langley (Norcross, Ga.) shot 75 and T.J. Blandford (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) fired a 76.

The College of Charleston leads the team standings after a first-round 288, while USC-Aiken’s Aaron Black is atop the individual leaderboard after shooting 68.

Furman is prepping for its annual Intercollegiate, slated for this Friday through Sunday, March 21-23, at the Furman University Golf Course.
