Paladin Golf Inks Three To National Letters of Intent

Greenville, S.C.-- Furman head golf coach Todd Satterfield announced the signing of three high school athletes to national letters of intent Monday. Robert Jamieson, Chris Gilliland and Ben Goforth are set to join the Paladin golf program in the Fall of 2003.

"I feel like this is a really good class," Satterfield said. "This year's group reminds me a lot of our class four years ago that included Matt Davidson, Buddy Davis and David Sligh."

Chris Gilliland, a native of Chattanooga, Tenn., prepped at Notre Dame High School. Gilliland finished third in the stroke play portion of the USGA Junior Championship after firing a second round 66. Gilliland also claimed first place at the Chattanooga City Prep Championship in September.

Robert Jamieson comes to the Paladins from Lake Highland Prep School in Orlando, Fla. Jamieson, the 2000 Central Florida Junior Match Play Champion, led Lake Highland to a third place finish this past season in the Florida State High School Championships. The Golfweek Performance Index ranked Jamieson 238th nationally at the end of the 2002 season. Jamieson's older sister, Lesley, is a member of the Wake Forest women's golf team.

Ben Goforth, a native of Shelby, N.C., played his prep golf at Shelby High School. Goforth is a two-time conference player of the year selection who led his team to a fifth place finish at the North Carolina High School Championships as a junior.

Coach Satterfield and the Paladins open the 2003 Spring season on February 28, at the LSU Spring Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
