PALADIN GOLFERS CLAIM 15TH AT ADAMS CUP OF NEWPORT

Newport, Rhode Island-- The Furman men's golf team shot a final round 295 to claim 15th place at the Adams Cup of Newport in Newport, Rhode Island, Wednesday. The Paladins (312-306-295=913) opened the day's play with a 306 in the suspended second round before firing its best round of the tourney.

After shooting a 78 in Tuesday's opening round, junior Buddy Davis rebounded by posting scores of 76 and 73 in the second and third rounds, respectively. Davis, a native of Orlando, Fla., finished 40th.

Furman sophomore Jay McKnight shot the Paladins' low round of the tournament firing a 71 in the final round. McKnight joined teammate Noble Judy in a tie for 50th with a three-round total of 229.

Michigan State claimed the team title with an 873, three strokes better than second place Texas A&M. Kasper Jorgenson of Georgia State totaled a four under par 210 to claim the individual medalist honors.

The Furman men's golf team returns to action at the Duke Golf Classic on October 21-22.
