SATTERFIELD EIGHT STROKES OFF LEAD AT EAST REGIONAL

WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia -- Furman junior Kirk Satterfield is tied for 47th, eight strokes off the lead at the NCAA East Regional, after firing a first-round 72 at the Golden Horseshoe Golf and Country Club on Thursday.

Satterfield drove the ball well, but blamed poor iron play and one three putt for five bogeys on the day. Satterfield added five birdies to his first round effort to shoot even par, but 46 collegiate linksters went under par for the first round.

Satterfield tees off at 9 a.m. on Friday for the second of three rounds in the East Regional. The top two individuals not on an advancing team (the top eight advance) will earn a berth in the National Championship May 31 - June 3 at Duke University.
