FURMAN MEN'S GOLF IN FIFTH PLACE AT ADAMS CUP OF NEWPORT TOURNAMENT

NEWPORT, RI -- Paced by Brian Scurlock's two-over par score of 142, the Furman men's golf team is currently tied for sixth place, just four shots behind tournament leader Southeastern Louisiana, after two rounds of play at the Adams Cup of Newport Golf Tournament.

Scurlock, a senior from Augusta, Ga., fired a two-over par 72 in Tuesday's first round before coming back later in the day with an even par 70 for a fifth place standing, two shots off the pace heading into Wednesday's final round. Paladins sophomore Matt Davidson is tied for 10th at 144, four shots off the lead held by Georgia State's D.J. Fiese and two others.

Contested at Newport Country Club and Point Judith Country Club, the tournament concludes on Wednesday.
