PALADINS PLACE 10TH AT MATLOCK

LAKELAND, Florida -- The Furman men's golf team fired a second round 310 and a final round 324 to place 10th at the Matlock Invitational Tuesday in Lakeland, Fla.

Furman was in 14th after a first-round 321, but moved up the leaderboard despite windy conditions during the tournament's second day.

Brian Scurlock was the top Furman finisher - he carded rounds of 80-77-80 to finish in 30th with a 237 total. Buddy Davis was just behind Scurlock at 238 after shooting 79-77-82, while Kirk Satterfield finished 59th with a 244 total (79-77-88). Freshman Noble Judy recorded rounds of 88-79-78 to place 62nd at 245, while Vance Embry's 250 total (83-83-84) was good for 76th.

The Paladins ended the tournament with a three-round 955 team total and were 52 shots out of the pace set by Florida Southern College, the tournament's host. Alabama placed second with a 916, while Stanford Univeristy, the first round leader, fell into third at 919.
