FURMAN'S SATTERFIELD TWO STROKES OFF AUGUSTA STATE LEAD

TEAM IN EIGHTH

AUGUSTA, Georgia -- After winning his first collegiate tournament at last weekend's Furman Intercolleigate, the Paladins' Kirk Satterfield is in second at the Cleveland Golf Augusta State Invitational, two strokes off the lead.

Satterfield fired a 70 in the first round, followed by a personal best 67 for a seven-under 137 total entering the final round of the ASU Invitational. He trails Augusta State's Oliver Wilson, who fired 70-65 on the day.

The Furman team is in eighth in the 15-team field after shooting 287-290 on Saturday. The Paladins are tied with Duke and Tennessee, 14-strokes off the lead held by North Carolina State and Wake Forest.

Matt Davidson of Furman carded 72-75 on Saturday and is in 41st, while Brian Scurlock stands in 45th after two rounds of 74. Noble Judy is 55th with rounds of 71-79 to his credit, while David Sligh is 66th after shooting 79-74. The Paladins' Buddy Davis is in 66th after shooting 77-76 as an individual.

Round three of the ASU Invitational is slated for Sunday at the 6,875-yard, par 72 Forest Hills Golf Course.
