FURMAN GOLF IN EIGHTH AT CLEVELAND COLLEGIATE

AIKEN, South Carolina -- Furman's Paladin Golf team is in eighth after firing 295-308 Monday in the first two rounds of the Cleveland Golf Collegiate at the 6,380-yard, par 71 Palmetto Golf Club.

The Paladins are 26 strokes off the pace of tournament leader Wake Forest, which shot 293-284 for a 577 total entering Tuesday's third and final round. Augusta State is in second with a 583 total, while Virginia Tech holds third at 586.

Sophomore David Sligh paced the Paladin team with rounds of 72-75, and is in 11th individually, 10 strokes off the lead, which is held by Coastal Carolina's Rafael Vera. Furman junior Kirk Satterfield is in 14th with a 148 total (70-78), while Matt Davidson stands one stroke back (73-76) in 21st. Senior Tom Wyatt, a native of Aiken, is in 64th with rounds of 80-79 to his credit, with sophomore Buddy Davis rounding out the Furman team in 69th, after rounds of 81-80.

The third and final round of the Cleveland Collegiate is slated for Tuesday, March 20.
