PALADINS CONTINUE TO LEAD IRONWOOD

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- With one round left to play, the Furman men's golf team holds a four-stroke lead at the East Carolina Ironwood Invitational.

Furman carded a second round 299 on Tuesday, bringing the team's total for the tourney to 593, four strokes ahead of second-place UNC Wilmington, and 15 strokes better than third place Virginia Tech.

The Paladins were led again on Tuesday by sophomore Matt Davidson, who fired a one-over 73 at the 7,049-yard Bradford Creek Country Club. Davidson is in third individually, two strokes off UNC Wilmington's Sean Dougherty, who leads with a 143. Furman's Buddy Davis improved from 10th to ninth with a second round 74, which brings his two-day sum to 148, while Kirk Satterfield followed up his first round 73 with a 76 and slid from fifth into 11th. David Sligh carded a 76 and is 16th at 151. Brian Scurlock rounded out the Furman effort with a 77 and is in 48th with a 156 tally.

The third and final round of the Ironwood Intercollegiate is slated for Tuesday, March 13.
