PALADINS IN FIRST AT ECU IRONWOOD

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Furman's Paladin golf team is in first place after firing a six-over 294 in the first round of the East Carolina Ironwood Intercollegiate on Sunday.

Sophomore Matt Davidson paced the Paladin team with an even-par 72 and is in third place individually. Junior Kirk Satterfield stands in fifth after carding a one-over 73 at the 7,049-yard, par 72 Bradford Creek Country Club, while Buddy Davis is 10th with a 74 to his credit and David Sligh is 18th after a round one 75. Senior Brian Scurlock was the Paladins' non-counter for the day, and is in 45th after shooting a 79.

Furman holds a three-stroke advantage in the team standings over second place East Carolina and was four strokes better than the third place Hokies of Virginia Tech. Round two is slated for Monday with the third and final 18 holes scheduled to take place Tuesday.
