FURMAN-CITADEL FOOTBALL GAME TO BE TELEVISED BY COMCAST/ CHARTER SPORTS SOUTHEAST;
FOUR OTHER CONTESTS TO BE TELEVISED ON NEW NATIONAL NETWORKS

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Oct. 18 football game against The Citadel in Charleston will be televised live by Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) and two new national television networks will combine to broadcast four additional Furman games this fall, the school and Southern Conference announced today.

Kickoff time for the game at Citadel's Johnson Hagood Stadium has been moved to 3:30 p.m. (EDT) to accommodate television according to Furman athletics director Gary Clark.

In addition to the Citadel contest, Furman's Nov. 8 clash versus Georgia Southern (1:00 p.m.) in Statesboro will be broadcast by College Sports Television (CSTV), which launched in April and is available on Direct TV. The Paladins' Aug. 30 home season opener versus Elon (7:00 p.m.), Sept. 20 clash in Greenville against Richmond (7:00 p.m.), and Nov. 23 regular season finale at Chattanooga (3:30 p.m.) will be televised by The Football Network (TFN), which will launch in August.

On Wednesday Fox Sports South Network (FSN) announced plans to televise Furman's Oct. 11 home game against Appalachian State (3:30) and an option to broadcast the Paladins' Nov. 15 home contest against Wofford if the game carries Southern Conference championship and/or playoff implications.

With today's announcement, Furman now has six confirmed live television appearances scheduled for the 2003 season.

The Paladins open preseason camp on August 7 when 90 players report to campus. The first practice is slated for August 8 at 5:30 p.m.

The Paladins posted an 8-4 record and No. 9 final national ranking in 2002 under first year head coach Bobby Lamb.
