FURMANıS STEPP NAMED SOCON FRESHMAN-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman quarterback Josh Stepp has been named Southern Conference Freshman-of-the-Week for his performance in Saturdayıs 30-10 win over East Tennessee State.

Stepp, a redshirt freshman from Pelion, S.C., making only the second start of his career, threw for 208 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 25 yards and another score in pacing Furman to the victory. He completed 10-of-14 passes, including a 21-yard touchdown strike to Brian Bratton in the second quarter, and later added a 21-yard touchdown run in the fourth period.

Furman climbed two spots to 20th in this weekıs NCAA I-AA poll, which was released today. The Paladins have been ranked in the Top 25 a league best 60 consecutive weeks since the 1999 campaign.

Furman is idle this Saturday but will return to action on Nov. 8 against Georgia Southern in Statesboro. Kickoff for the game, which will be televised by CSTV, is set for 1:00 p.m.
