FURMAN FOOTBALL TO WELCOME 90 PLAYERS
TO PRESEASON CAMP THURSDAY

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman head coach Bobby Lamb will welcome 90 players to campus Thursday in preparation for preseason practice, which gets underway Friday afternoon.

Freshmen will report at 10:30 a.m. followed by upperclassmen at 1:30 p.m. Freshman will undergo physicals at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday morning all players will undergo weight room testing, and equipment will be issued in the afternoon following the Atlanta Falcons' departure from campus. The team's first practice in shorts and helmets is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

"We're looking forward to having everybody back and trying out the new NCAA practice model," said Lamb on Wednesday. "Things will be different with the cutback on two-a-days, so we'll see how well we adjust to the new guidelines."

New NCAA rules prohibit twice daily practices in successive days.

The Paladins will practice once daily in shorts and helmets through Monday before going to full pads for a single workout on Tuesday starting at 2:30 p.m. Two practices are scheduled on Wednesday beginning at 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

All Paladin practices are open to the public.

Furman posted an 8-4 record and No. 9 final national ranking. and made its fourth straight NCAA I-AA playoff appearance in 2002 under Bobby Lamb, who begins his second season at the helm of the Paladin program.

Furman opens its season on Aug. 30 when it hosts new Southern Conference member Elon at Paladin Stadium in a 7:00 p.m. game.
