FURMAN'S TREVOR KRUGER
NAMED AFCA ALL-AMERICA

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman senior offensive guard Trevor Kruger has been named to the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America Team, it was announced today.

Kruger, a senior from Moultrie, Ga., and consensus All-Southern selection, was one of three Southern Conference players named to the squad, which also included Georgia Southern defensive lineman Freddy Pesqueira and Josh Jeffries. Kruger is the 14th Paladin to garner AFCA All-America honors, which are accorded in balloting by coaches.

"Trevor Kruger fashioned an outstanding career here and played a significant role in the success our program enjoyed the last four seasons," said Furman head coach Bobby Lamb. "He was part of a senior class that won 38 games and two Southern Conference championships, and made a school record four straight NCAA I-AA playoff appearances. That's pretty strong."

A three-year starter for the Paladins, Kruger helped key the most balanced offensive attack in the Southern Conference in 2002, averaging 30.4 points and 413.8 yards per game. In his first two seasons as a starter, he played a key role in paving the way for two-time All-America tailback Louis Ivory, who led the nation in rushing in 2000 on the way to claiming the Walter Payton Award as NCAA I-AAšs top offensive performer.

Furman went 8-4 this year and finished the regular season ranked No. 6 in the Sports Network NCAA I-AA poll.
