FURMAN TO HOST ATLANTA FALCONS
TRAINING CAMP IN 2003-2004

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Atlanta Falcons today announced they will return to Furman for the club's training camp for the next two years.

"We're excited about the Falcons' multi-year commitment and in continuing our longstanding relationship with one of NFL's top franchises," said Furman director of athletics Gary Clark on Monday. "Having the Falcons here has been a major plus for us, and we certainly believe our facilities and commitment have met their expectations."

As part of the Falcons' commitment, the club is funding the overhaul of the university's two football practice fields -- a move Furman head football coach Bobby Lamb says will have a major impact on the Paladins' program.

"Our practice fields were in need of repair, and the Falcons through their generosity have stepped forward and made the project possible," said Lamb. "That's a major plus for our football program."

The Falcons, who conducted training camp at Furman from 1971-78, returned to campus in 1999 after holding training camp at their then Suwanee facility from 1979-88. This year's camp at Furman is scheduled to run from July 24 through August 8.

All of the Falcons' training camp practices, including the sessions at team headquarters, will be open to the public. The Falcons' regular season practices, which will be conducted at the team's headquarters in Flowery Branch, Ga., are closed to the pubic.
