FURMAN TO WELCOME 27 FRESHMEN
TO PRESEASON CAMP WEDNESDAY

GREENVILLE -- Furman will welcome 27 freshmen football players to campus on Wednesday in preparation for preseason camp, which gets underway Friday with two practices in shorts and helmets.

The Paladin newcomers are expected to report and be fitted with equipment between 2:00 -4:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to undergoing physicals at 7:15 p.m. On Thursday morning the Furman freshmen will visit Greenville Children's Hospital and in the afternoon will meet with position coaches. On Friday the Paladins newcomers hit the practice field for the first time with workouts scheduled for 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Furman's returning veterans are scheduled to report on Saturday. The first full squad practice in shorts and helmets is slated for Monday beginning at 6:20 a.m., and later at 3:20 p.m.

Furman returns 19 starters off a 2000 squad that posted a 9-3 record, advanced to the NCAA I-AA playoffs, and claimed a No. 10 final ranking in the Sports Network Poll.
