CLAVICLE CONTUSION NOT EXPECTED
TO SIDELINE FURMAN'S IVORY

GREENVILLE -- Furman head athletic trainer Brian Reese announced today that x-rays reveal All-America tailback Louis Ivory is suffering from a right clavicle contusion but that the senior is not expected to miss the Paladins' next game against Georgia Southern on Nov. 3.

"Louis will be limited during the coming week, but we expect him to be ready for the Georgia Southern game," said Reese after x-rays, which were administered on Sunday, failed to detect a fracture. "This is a condition Louis has had since high school, and it has bothered him some over the last three weeks, but he should be fine in a few days."

Ivory, recipient of the 2000 Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in NCAA I-AA football, rushed for 146 yards and a touchdown and caught two passes for 21 yards in Saturday's 31-6 Southern Conference win over East Tennessee State. Furman's all-time leading rusher with 5,014 yards, he has run for 838 yards and nine touchdowns this year, helping the Paladins to a 6-1 record and No. 3 national ranking.

Furman is idle next Saturday.
