CSS TO TELEVISE FURMAN-GA. SOUTHERN
NCAA I-AA SEMIFINAL PLAYOFF FOOTBALL GAME

GREENVILLE -- Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) will televise Saturday's Furman-Georgia Southern NCAA I-AA semifinal football game, Furman director of athletics Gary Clark announced today.

With kickoff scheduled for noon at Georgia Southern's Paulson Stadium, the contest features the Southern Conference co-champion Paladins (11-2) and Eagles (12-1), who will meet for the third time in the playoffs. In 1985 Georgia Southern edged Furman, 44-42, to claim the national championship. Furman later avenged the loss by whipping Georgia Southern, 17-12, in the 1988 national championship game. The Eagles won this year's regular season contest, 20-10, in Satesboro on Nov. 3.

Furman advanced into the semifinals with a 34-17 win over Lehigh, while two-time defending national champion Georgia Southern downed Appalachian State, 38-24, to earn its spot in the semifinal round.

The game will be carried live in Greenville and throughout the entire Upstate CSS cable sytem over channel 21, except in Anderson, where it will be shown on channel 31. Game broadcast channels in other CSS markets in the Southeast will vary.
