FURMAN ADDS FOOTBALL RECRUIT

GREENVILLE -- Furman head football coach Bobby Lamb today announced the signing of wide receiver Casey Baxter to a national letter of intent.

Baxter, a 6-2, 185-pound product of Calhoun, Ga., played for Lamb's brother, Hal Lamb, at Calhoun High School, where he caught 83 passes for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns in his two seasons of prep football. He also played free safety and recorded 91 tackles on the way to earning all-area and AA all-state honors in 2001.

An equally outstanding basketball player, Baxter recently participated in Georgia's North-South All-Star Game after averaging 19.0 points per game on a team that went 26-5 and advanced to the state semifinals. As a junior he led Calhoun to a 26-5 record and scored 36 points in a state championship game loss to East Hall.

Baxter, who spurned offers from Georgia Southern, Western Carolina, and Wofford, to sign with Furman, marks the Paladins' 17th football recruit this year.
