FURMAN'S BRANDON POOLE
NAMED SOCON FRESHMAN-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE -- Furman defensive end Brandon Poole has been named Southern Conference Freshman-of-the-Week for his performance in the Paladins' 35-21 win over VMI on Saturday.

Poole, a product of Columbia, S.C./Irmo High School and the son of former University of South Carolina Heisman Trophy winner George Rogers, tallied five tackles and three sacks to key a Furman defense that registered seven sacks and limited VMI to only four yards rushing offense.

Furman, now 4-0 on the season and 1-0 in Southern Conference play, is ranked sixth in this week's Sports Network NCAA I-AA poll.
