FURMAN'S LAMB REMAINS HOSPITALIZED FRIDAY

GREENVILLE -- Furman University assistant football coach Bobby Lamb remained hospitalized Friday after sustaining a fractured cervical vertebrae in an automobile accident on his way home from work Wednesday evening.

"The doctors have indicated that they may need to conduct more tests to make sure they haven't missed anything, and it appears Bobby will remain in the hospital for another day or possibly more," said his wife Allyson early Friday afternoon.

Lamb was admitted to Greenville Memorial Hospital after the car he was driving collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Stallings Road and Mountain Creek Church Road in Greenville, approximately a mile from his residence.

Lamb did not lose consciousness at any point following the accident and has full neuromuscular activity in his extremities, according to Furman head athletic trainer Brian Reese.

"Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with coach Lamb and his family," said Furman head coach Bobby Johnson Friday afternoon.

Lamb, a Commerce, Ga., native and 1986 Furman graduate currently in his 14th year as a member of the Paladin coaching staff, serves as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

Furman, ranked fourth in the latest Sports Network NCAA I-AA poll and a strong contender to earn a bid to this year's NCAA I-AA playoffs, hosts Chattanooga Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Paladin Stadium in the regular season finale for both teams.
