GREENVILLE TOUCHDOWN CLUB NAMES FURMAN'S
LOUIS IVORY STATE PLAYER-OF-THE-YEAR

GREENVILLE -- Furman University consensus All-America tailback Louis Ivory, winner of the Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in NCAA I-AA football, has been named South Carolina Player-of-the-Year by the Greenville Touchdown Club, it was announced today.

Ivory, who rushed for a Southern Conference and state record 2,079 yards and 16 touchdowns in 11 regular season games, will receive the Banks McFadden Trophy as the state player-of-the-year at the Greenville Touchdown Club's 47th Annual Award Banquet, scheduled for Monday, January 29 at the Embassy Suites Hotel beginning at 7:00 p.m. The All-Greenville County team will also be recognized, as will the county team, player, and coach-of-the-year and state high school player-of-the-year.

Ivory is the third Furman player to be selected state player-of-the-year by the Greenville Touchdown Club, which initiated the award in 1991. Carl Tremble (1992) and Orlando Ruff (1998) were other Furman honorees.
