FURMAN'S LOUIS IVORY LEADS NATION IN RUSHING

GREENVILLE -- Furman junior tailback Louis Ivory leads the nation in rushing this week according to official NCAA I-AA statistics.

Ivory, who has rushed for 907 yards and nine touchdowns through five games, is averaging a national best 181.4 yards per game and 8.2 yards per carry, also tops in the nation.

In Saturday's 38-14 win over Western Carolina, the Fort Valley, Ga., product rolled up 187 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns on runs covering 65, 25, and 14 yards en route to his eighth straight 100-yard performance. He needs 93 yards in Furman's next game to become the quickest player in Furman history to rush for 1,000 yards in a season.

Furman, now 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in Southern Conference play, takes on nationally seventh-ranked Appalachian State this Saturday in Boone. N.C. The game will be televised live by Fox Sports South beginning at Noon.
