FURMAN'S IVORY, BOUTON LAND SOCON
PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK HONORS

GREENVILLE -- Furman tailback Louis Ivory and linebacker Will Bouton of Greenville have been named Southern Conference Offensive and Defensive Players-of-the-Week for their performances in the Paladins' 16-3 win over Elon on Saturday, the league office announced today.

Ivory, a junior from Fort Valley, Ga., and consensus All-Southern Conference selection a year ago, rushed 20 times for 182 yards and reeled off a career best 75-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to key the Paladins' offensive attack.

Bouton, meanwhile, headlined a strong Paladin defensive effort, totaling 13 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, a fumble recovery, and an interception against the Phoenix. A 1999 All-Southern Conference and pre-season All-America pick, Bouton has now started in 24 consecutive games.

Ranked ninth in this week's Sports Network NCAA I-AA Poll, Furman takes on Newberry this Saturday at Paladin Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
