FURMAN TO WELCOME 24 FRESHMEN
TO PRE-SEASON CAMP WEDNESDAY

GREENVILLE -- Furman will welcome 24 freshmen football players to campus on Wednesday in preparation for pre-season camp, which gets underway Friday with two practices in shorts and helmets.

"It's always exciting when you welcome a new class of recruits to campus, and this year is no exception," said Paladin head coach Bobby Johnson on Tuesday.

The Paladin newcomers are expected to report and be fitted with equipment between 2:00 -4:00 p.m. on Wednesday prior to undergoing physicals at 7:15 p.m. On Thursday morning the Furman freshmen will visit Greenville Children's Hospital and in the afternoon will meet with position coaches.

Furman's returning veterans are scheduled to report on Saturday. The first full squad practice in shorts and helmets is slated for Monday beginning at 6:20 a.m., and later at 3:20 p.m.

Furman returns 17 starters off a 1999 Southern Conference championship, NCAA playoff squad that posted a 9-4 record and defeated North Carolina 28-3.
