FURMAN PREPARES FOR SEASON OPENER

GREENVILLE -- The Furman football team began preparation for its season opener next Saturday against Elon, forming a scout team offense and defense at its two hour practice Thursday afternoon.

"We're concentrating on Elon and trying to give our offense and defense looks to prepare them for what should be a tough season opener," head coach Bobby Johnson said. "Offensively, that's a real challenge because they (Elon) runs the wishbone and there's no way to give our defense a true look at what they will see next Saturday. Defensively, though, we're very similar, so we'll get in a lot of good work over the next week."

Furman will practice once on Friday beginning at 3:20 p.m.
