FURMAN RANKED 18TH IN BOTH NCAA I-AA POLLS

GREENVILLE -- On the strength of Saturday's 35-21 win over previously third-ranked Appalachian State, Furman has moved up to 18th in both the ESPN/USA Today and Sports Network NCAA I-AA national polls, it was announced today.

Furman first cracked the poll at No. 25 last week following its 27-19 victory over Western Carolina. With the loss to Furman, Appalachian State dropped from third to 11th in one poll and 12th in the other. East Tennessee State, which was idle, is ranked 13th and 16th, respectively, in both polls. Georgia Southern is a consensus No. 1 in both polls.

Furman (4-1; 2-0 SoCon) returns to action this Saturday when it travels to Charleston to take on arch-rival The Citadel (1-4; 0-2 SoCon) at Johnson Hagood Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
