FURMAN CLIMBS TO 14TH IN NCAA I-AA FOOTBALL POLL

GREENVILLE -- On the strength of Saturday's 31-17 win over arch-rival The Citadel in Charleston, the Furman Paladins climbed four slots to 14th in this week's Sports Network NCAA I-AA poll, which was released today.

The Paladins moved to 15th in this week's ESPN/USA Today poll, which was also released Monday afternoon.

Furman first cracked the poll at No. 25 two weeks ago following the Paladins' 27-19 victory over Western Carolina. The Paladins moved to 18th last week following a 35-21 win over previously third-ranked Appalachian State, which knocked off No. 1 Georgia Southern 17-16 in Boone on Saturday.

Furman, which sits all alone atop the Southern Conference with a 5-1 overall record and 4-0 league mark, is one of four conference teams in this week's national poll, which also includes Georgia Southern (No. 5), Appalachian State (No. 6), and East Tennessee State (No. 13).

The Paladins return to action this Saturday when they will host East Tennessee State at Paladin Stadium. Kickoff for the homecoming contest is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
