FURMAN'S JUSTIN HILL NAMED SOUTHERN
CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE -- Furman University quarterback Justin Hill has been named Southern Conference Player-of-the-Week for his performance in the Paladins' 28-3 win over North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Saturday.

Hill, a junior from Greer, S.C., completed 10-of-12 passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 30 yards and another score in helping the Paladins post their first win over NCAA I-A foe since 1985.

Hill's touchdown passes covered 60 and 49 yards, and his touchdown run covered four yards to cap a Furman offensive effort that totaled 461 yards against the Tar Heels.

"Justin was outstanding in all phases in our win over North Carolina," said Furman head coach Bobby Johnson on Monday. "He ran our offense effectively and threw with great efficiency. He was a major factor in our win."

Hill's work against North Carolina included seven consecutive pass completions, which allowed him to set a new school consecutive completions record. In helping Furman post wins over The Citadel (31-17), East Tennessee State (48-21), and North Carolina (28-3) the past three weeks, the Paladin signal caller completed 19 straight passes before having his string snapped in the second half against North Carolina.

Winners of seven straight and ranked 7th in this week's Sports Network NCAA I-AA poll, Furman (7-1; 5-0 SoCon) returns to action this Saturday when it travels to Statesboro, Ga., to take on Georgia Southern (7-2, 5-1 SoCon). Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
