FURMAN'S BOUTON NAMED SOUTHERN
CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE -- Furman University sophomore linebacker Will Bouton has been named Southern Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week for his outstanding play in the Paladins' 52-6 rout of William & Mary Saturday in Williamsburg.

Bouton, a Greenville native and 1997 graduate of Greenville High School, totaled a team high 13 tackles and a fumble recovery in Furman's victory. Bouton's fumble recovery at the Tribe 34-yard line set up a Paladin touchdown in the second half.

"Will did a lot of good things for us in the win Saturday," said Furman head coach Bobby Johnson. "He made a bunch of tackles, recovered a fumble, and really provided us with solid leadership in a game where our defense played well against a good offensive football team."

Bouton leads Furman with 27 tackles through two games. He paced the Paladins in tackles a year ago with 111 stops in 11 games.
