FURMAN VETERANS REPORT TO PRE-SEASON CAMP;
FRESHMEN COMPLETE SECOND DAY OF PRACTICE

GREENVILLE -- Furman University head football coach Bobby Johnson welcomed the arrival of 70 Paladin veterans on Saturday after putting the squad's 20 freshmen through their second day of two-a-day practices in shorts and helmets.

"With the upperclassmen coming in, we wanted to be around when they arrived, so we only practiced an hour in the afternoon after working and hour and a half in the morning," said Johnson. "We're testing all of them tomorrow, so we didn't want to keep them out too long. We just reviewed some of the things we installed yesterday, and everything seemed to go well."

The Paladins will conduct picture day early Sunday and, later in the afternoon, will undergo running tests, with each player having to complete 18 110-yard runs within specific times, according to body weight.

Furman's first squad practice in shorts and helmets is scheduled for 6:20 a.m. Monday morning. The Paladins will practice Monday afternoon at 3:20 p.m. All Furman practices are open to the public.
