Furman Unveils New Athletic Logo

GREENVILLE -- Furman University director of sports marketing and promotions Terry Bradley today unveiled a new logo for the school's 17-sport athletics program, for the purpose of increasing public awareness of the Paladin mascot and creating interest in the school's sports apparel merchandise.

"With all our programs going in such a positive direction, and with Timmons Arena nearing completion, we felt the time was right to offer our fans a fresh, new look for the Paladins," Bradley said on Tuesday. "We believe the new logo is appealing because it depicts what a Paladin is -- a knight on a white horse -- in an aggressive and strong way."

While the diamond "F", Furman's athletic symbol since the mid-1970s, will continue to be the school's dominant athletic logo, athletic department officials, according to Bradley, hope the new look will appeal to alumni, fans, and the general public, and better assist the university in marketing its sports merchandise.

The new logo, designed locally by Geno Church of Greg and Greg Creative, incorporates the school's name and athletic nickname over the image of a Paladin.
