FURMAN WINS FOUL-FEST OVER DENMARK


GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furmanıs Lady Paladin basketball team was declared victorious with more than two minutes left on the clock in Sundayıs exhibition game against Denmark, when all but one member of the Danish team fouled out of the game. The score when the forfeit was declared was Furman 101, Denmark 55.

Despite the bizarre finish, the Lady Paladins spread out the point scoring to every member of the squad, and were led by senior Heidi Whiteıs 18 points, followed closely by sophomore Amy Kingıs 17. Reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year Jackie Smith scored 12 and claimed six rebounds in just 25 minutes of action.

On the night, Furman went to the free throw line 71 times, connecting on 42 for a 59.2% mark, while the Denmark National Team racked up 47 personal fouls. From the field, the Lady Paladins connected of 56.3% of shots (27-of-48) and were five-for-eight (.625) from three point land.

The Lady Paladins are in action again on Saturday, November 14, when they host the Lowcountry All Stars in a 3 p.m. exhibition game.
