SMITH RECEIVES SIXTH CAREER PLAYER OF THE WEEK CITATION


GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman junior Jackie Smith has earned the Southern Conference Player of the Week award for the second time this season and the sixth time in her career.

Smith averaged 24.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game last week, while leading the Lady Paladins to a pair of conference wins over Wofford College and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. In addition, Smith shot 56.5% from the field and 88.0% from the free throw line, and recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 28 points and 14 rebounds versus the UTC Mocs.

Smith's scoring average, which currently stands at 21.1 points per game, was 20.7 at the start of the week, ranking her 17th in the NCAA in scoring. The reigning league Player of the Year, Smith continues to lead the Southern Conference in scoring, rebounding, and offensive rebounds.
