ONE VERSUS TWO, SATURDAY AT TIMMONS

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman's Lady Paladin basketball team, 9-7 on the year and ranked second in the Southern Conference standings, will host the top-ranked Mocs of Chattanooga at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Timmons Arena.

UTC enters tomorrow's game with a perfect 7-0 record in league play, while the Lady Paladins are tied for second with two losses. Unlike the men, the SoCon women are not divided into divisions, and play every league team twice. Only Furman and Davidson stand in the way of the Mocs posting a perfect 9-0 mark in the first round of Southern Conference games, and the Lady Paladins are gunning to break the Chattanooga streak.

"I really think Saturday's game may decide the Southern Conference Championship," said assistant Furman coach Adrienne Shuler. "If we let the Mocs go undefeated in the first round of Southern Conference action, they will be hard to catch. If, however, we beat them tomorrow, we will have a chance to win again Feb. 23 when we play at Chattanooga, and that will make things in the league really interesting."
