FURMAN UPSET 80-70 BY DAVIDSON

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman's Lady Paladin basketball team lost in Timmons Arena for just the third time this season Tuesday night, when Davidson College posted an 80-70 victory in Southern Conference basketball action.

Furman led 35-31 at the half, but the Wildcats shot a sizzling 69.2% from the field and 60.0% from three point range in the second period to outscore the Lady Paladins 49-35.

Davidson Senior Meagan Gleason scored 21 points, while Katy Kamp added 19, Jen O'Brien totaled 16, and Janna Magette scored 12. For Furman, Jackie Smith recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Kena Hodges added 17 points and Tara Charles totaled 12. In addition, Leitra Young claimed a career-high 10 rebounds.

With the win, the Wildcats improved to 7-15 overall and 6-9 in the Southern Conference, while Furman falls to 15-10 overall and 11-5 in the league. Furman is now tied with UNC Greensboro for second in the Southern Conference standings.
