FURMAN PLACES FIVE IN DOUBLE FIGURES, HAMMERS WOFFORD 95-53

SPARTANBURG, South Carolina -- The Furman Lady Paladins placed five players in double figures and outscored the Wofford Lady Terriers 48-17 in the second half on its way to a 95-53 victory in Southern Conference women's basketball action Monday night at Wofford's Johnson Arena.

Furman, who built a 47-36 halftime cushion, led from wire to wire. The Lady Paladins forced 30 turnovers on the night and shot a blistering 48.7 percent from the field. After building a comfortable 73-51 second half lead, Furman held the Lady Terriers without a field goal for the remainder of the game and kept Wofford scoreless for a seven minute stretch. The Lady Paladins built a 95-51 lead before Wofford's Ricaye Harris ended the drought with two free throws with 11 seconds remaining.

The Lady Paladins were led by Kim Lawrence's 22 points, five rebounds and five assists. Junior Deshara Shealey added 20 points, seven boards and seven assists, while sophomore Jen Nadalin tallied 15 points and a career-high tying 12 rebounds. Laney Harris and Lauren Few also reached double figures in points for the Lady Paladins with 12 and 11, respectively.

Harris led the Lady Terriers with 16 points, while Jenn Stasie contributed 14.

The win improves Furman to 12-10 overall and 8-5 in the Southern Conference, while Wofford falls to 4-18 overall and 1-12 in league play.

Furman return to Timmons Arena on Saturday when it hosts Chattanooga in a key Southern Conference matchup at 4:00 p.m.
