DIXON, LADY PALADINS INK THREE TO NATIONAL LETTERS OF INTENT

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furman women's basketball coach Sam Dixon announced on Thursday the signing of three high school athletes to National Letters of Intent. Megan Gallagher (Dallas, Texas), Jessica Lange (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Elizabeth Sorensen (Melbourne, Fla.) will make up the Lady Paladins' 2003 recruiting class.

A 6-1 post player, Megan Gallagher averaged 12.0 points, 10.8 rebounds and 2.6 steals a game as a junior at Highland Park High School under head coach Jennifer Young. Gallagher, a two-time all-district selection, also plays for the Team Texas Longshots AAU program.

Lange signs with the Lady Paladins following a strong junior season at Farragut High School in Knoxville. The 6-2 post took home all-district, all-district tournament and All-Knoxville Interscholastic League honors after averaging 13.9 points per contest for head coach Mike Driver's squad. Lange also shot 55 percent from the field, while snagging 7.0 rebounds a game and blocking 120 shots as a junior. Lange is a member of the Tennessee Elite AAU team.

Melbourne Central Catholic standout Elizabeth Sorensen announces she will join the Lady Paladins after being tabbed first team all-state and leading her team to the Florida 2A State Championship as a junior. Sorensen, winner of the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce Athlete Scholar Award, averaged 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists per game last season. Sorensen has totaled 1,350 points in three seasons on her varisty team.

"I think this is a strong class," said Coach Dixon. "It fills several needs for us. It gives us depth in the post with Jessica and Megan and it gives us a complete, all-around guard in Elizabeth Sorensen," Dixon said. "All three ladies have a good work ethic and are excellent students."
