LADY PALADINS LOSE HEARTBREAKER AT HIGH POINT
WILMINGTON, N.C.-- High Point's Gina Rosser sunk two free throws with 15 seconds remaining to lift the Panthers to a 52-51 victory over Furman in women's basketball action Wednesday night in High Point, N.C.
Furman, 2-3 on the season, rallied from a 15-point first half deficit to grab a 39-35 lead with 12:38 left in the game on a Tommi Paris layup. High Point answered with a 12-0 run to take an eight point lead with under eight minutes remaining. Junior Deshara Shealey helped Furman regain the lead with an eight foot jumper with 28 seconds left before Rosser scored the game-winning free throws.
Shealey led the Lady Paladins' effort with 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists, while junior Kim Lawrence and freshman Lauren Few tallied 11 points a piece.
High Point, 4-2, was led by Misty Brockman's 12 points and Katie O'Dell's three second half three-pointers. The Panthers made five three-pointers compared to the Lady Paladins' two treys.
Furman returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Auburn, Ala., to battle the Auburn Tigers in a 3:00p.m. contest at Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.
