SECOND HALF SURGE LEADS CLEMSON BY LADY PALADINS 91-58
CLEMSON, S.C.-- Chrissy Floyd scored 21 of her game-high 26 points in the first half and Clemson connected on 11-of-16 three point attempts for the game on its way to a 91-58 victory over the Furman Lady Paladins in women's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Civic Center of Anderson in Anderson, S.C.
The Lady Paladins matched Clemson shot for shot over the first 12 minutes of the game, cutting the Clemson lead to 23-22 on two Katie Roach free throws with 8:09 remaining in the first half. The Lady Tigers stretched the lead to 36-28 at the break and outscored Furman 55-30 in the second frame.
Junior Deshara Shealey led the Lady Paladins in scoring with 14, while Roach reached double digits with 13. Furman out rebounded the Lady Tigers 38-30 including 22 offensive rebounds.
Clemson's Floyd was joined in double figures by Julie Talley and Julie Aderhold who tallied 18 and 13, respectively. Talley and Aderhold combined to hit 7-of-7 three point attempts and 11-of-14 shots from the field. Clemson never trailed in the contest.
With the loss, Furman falls to 2-5 on the season, while Clemson ups its record to 4-2. The Lady Paladins return to action against the University of Virginia Monday night in Charlottesville, Va.
