FURMAN FINISHES HOME SLATE WITH VICTORY OVER COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON


GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- Furmanıs Lady Paladin basketball team used is final home game of the season to post an 87-49 win over Southern Conference foe College of Charleston Wednesday night in Timmons Arena.

Furman forced 14 turnovers in the first period while giving up the ball just six times and scored 19 points off turnovers to the Cougarıs two. This dominating ballhandling, combined with 51.3% shooting from the field, gave the Lady Paladins a 48-25 lead at the half.

In the second period, Furman pounded the boards to finish the game with a 41-32 rebounding advantage and 22 second chance points to the Cougarsı six.

Five Lady Paladins scored in double digits with sophomore Laney Harris matching her career high of 19 on seven-of-11 shooting from the field and a five-for-eight performance from three point range. In addition, Kim Lawrence and Katie Roach totaled 12 points each, while Jen Nadalin and Lauren Few totaled 10. Roach also topped the Furman rebounding effort with 10, for her third double-double of the year.

The Cougars were paced by Wilma Simpsonıs 15 points, while Tiffany Wilson claimed a team-best seven boards. On the night, the College of Charleston was held to 36.8% shooting from the field and a 12.5% mark from three-point range.

Furman, which has secured the fourth seed in the Southern Conference Tournament, March 5-8 in Charleston, S.C., will travel to Cullowhee, N.C. on Saturday for a 4 p.m. game against the Catamounts. College of Charleston will host Davidson Saturday at 3 p.m.
