LADY PALADIN BASKETBALL TO VOLUNTEER WITH RUN FOR THE CURE

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- On Saturday, the Furman women's basketball team will be volunteering with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, coach Sherry Carter announced on Thursday.

For the second straight year, the Lady Paladins will help with signup, traffic control, caring for runners' children, and the general administration of the race, which raises money for breast cancer research.

"We think this is a worthy cause and an important one for our team to get involved with," said Carter. "This cause hits close to home with me because my Mother is a breast cancer survivor. Our team enjoyed working with the Race for the Cure last year, and wanted to be a part of it again. We invite everyone to come out on Saturday and help make a difference in fighting this disease."

The Race for the Cure begins Saturday at 8 a.m. at Greenville Techinical College. A playground (partially staffed by Lady Paladin basketball players) will be available for children ages eight and under to participate in supervised games.
