SOCON COACHES TAB POPE AS TOP NEWCOMER
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The Southern Conference womenıs basketball coaches voted
on the top skills players in the league during the preseason.
The coaches selected Damita Bullock from Chattanooga as the top offensive player
and Georgia Southernıs Tiffany Lanier as the best defensive player. Bullock,
who was also selected to the preseason all-league team and preseason player
of the year, also received honors as the best clutch player, best pro prospect
and best all-around player.
Georgia Southernıs Danna Simpson was named the best ballhandler and best passer
by the coaches. College of Charlestonıs Wilma Simpson and Woffordıs Nancy Dubuisson
tied for best rebounder. Davidsonıs Janna Magette earned the honors as the best
pure shooter.
