SOCON COACHES TAB POPE AS TOP NEWCOMER

ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The Southern Conference women¹s basketball coaches voted on the top skills players in the league during the preseason.

The coaches selected Damita Bullock from Chattanooga as the top offensive player and Georgia Southern¹s Tiffany Lanier as the best defensive player. Bullock, who was also selected to the preseason all-league team and preseason player of the year, also received honors as the best clutch player, best pro prospect and best all-around player.

Georgia Southern¹s Danna Simpson was named the best ballhandler and best passer by the coaches. College of Charleston¹s Wilma Simpson and Wofford¹s Nancy Dubuisson tied for best rebounder. Davidson¹s Janna Magette earned the honors as the best pure shooter.
